The beginning
● 1927 - Oskar Meier was employed by the Offenburg company Martin, which built washing machines and lathes. In 1927 he and Franz Konrad, who had experience in sales, decided to ‘go it alone’ and initially set up a small work-shop in Friedrichstrasse. That was also where they invented the name which has since become a synonym across the world for first-class dish-washing technology - Meier and Konrad = MeiKo. One year later, in 1928, their small business moved to its present location – the corner of Englerstrasse and Haselwanderstrasse.

Iceland - Coldwater relocates its frozen fish production

| The Icelandic Group’s frozen fish productions at the Grimsby Coldwater Seafoods factory (UK) is moved to France and Germany. The Humber Bank plant will instead concentrate on the manufacture of chilled ready meals. The Coldwater factory has been experiencing problems for several months.

EU - Europeans eat less poultry - avian flu survey reads

Around 48% of those who reduced their consumption, or 9% of those surveyed, said they were aware of a potential risk. As they were unable to measure it, they preferred to adopt a cautious attitude.
More than three quarters of the group, representing 14% of the total, perceived this change as temporary. A total of 13%, or 3% of those living in EU, say they have reduced their consumption of poultry meat forever.
