Italy - Orogel – on the wave

| The Italian frozen food group Orogel has reported an increase of 6.5% in its sales for 2004 to EUR 135 million, with volume 6.5% higher at 62,000 tonnes. Net profits, excluding provisions for tax payment, were 11.1% higher at EUR 14.5 million.

Europe - Heinz gets offer for its European seafood business

| H.J. Heinz Co., one of the world's biggest food producers, has announced it is in "advanced" negotiations to sell its European seafood business to a private equity unit of Lehman Brothers. Heinz announced plans last August to sell less profitable divisions and refocus on key brands.

UK MKG Foods lifts school meals sales by 20%
