 EU Heinz completes sale of seafood business
Lehman Brothers Merchant Banking bought, in March, Heinz European seafood unit, for EUR 425 million. The acquisition includes three major brands – John West, Mareblu and Petit Navire – and four seafood processing facilities in Douarnenez (France), Ghana, Peniche (Portugal) and The Seychelles. read more

 UK Guarantees over future of Birds Eye plant
Trade and Industry Minister Alan Johnson has secured a number of important new guarantees from Unilever over the future of the Hull-based Birds Eye Fish plant. The minister has held a new top level meeting with the company, following preliminary discussions last month, which indicate that the site will continue in production until at least 2009 - and probably a lot longer. read more

 Ireland Silver Pail Dairies produces for Baskin-Robbins
Baskin-Robbins has signed a three year agreement with Silver Pail Dairies (Ireland) to supply its European stores with ice cream. The Irish company will produce 1.5 million litres of ice cream during the first year, in 30 flavours for 140 existing Baskin-Robbins stores in the UK and elsewhere in Europe. read more
