Messe Düsseldorf is expanding its presence in the food and packaging market in the Middle East and North Africa region with the launch of Morocco Food World, a new trade fair set to take place in autumn 2027.
The event marks the company’s first dedicated trade fair in the region and is organized in partnership with the Fédération Nationale de l’Agroalimentaire, the national association of the Moroccan food industry.
The new fair will focus on the food industry while strengthening the interpack alliance’s presence in North Africa. As food production expands and modernizes, the need for high-performance processing, safe and efficient production methods, and advanced packaging solutions has grown alongside it. That combination of food, processing and packaging is what makes Morocco Food World a natural addition to the interpack alliance’s international portfolio, according to Messe Düsseldorf.
For the company, Morocco represents the latest step in its expansion across the region. Messe Düsseldorf has had a presence in Egypt since 2019 through its own processing and packaging event, and Food Africa and interpack Middle East Africa in Cairo now form a pair of trade fairs that combine food production with related processing and packaging technologies. Morocco adds a different strategic location to that network: the country sits close to Europe, maintains close economic ties with European markets, and offers access to markets in West Africa. Those factors, the company said, position Morocco to develop further as an international hub for the food, processing and packaging sectors.
“We are delighted to be working with our partners to establish a new trade fair – Morocco Food World – in a market where so much is happening right now,” said Thomas Dohse, Director of interpack at Messe Düsseldorf. Morocco has a dynamic food industry, is investing in modern production facilities and serves as a unique bridge between Europe and Africa. That is precisely where we see the great opportunity: “We want to bring people, businesses and markets together and open up new opportunities for our clients in this exciting region.”
Morocco has developed into a major economic and industrial center in North Africa, with economic growth of roughly 4% to 4.5% expected in both 2026 and 2027. Investment in infrastructure and industry, close economic ties with Europe, and access to West African markets add to the country’s significance as a business location.
For the processing and packaging sector, developments within Morocco’s food industry carry particular weight. The country has a diverse agricultural and food industry and exports fruit and vegetables, fish and seafood, and processed foods, among other goods, while its domestic market continues to grow. Rising demands on quality, workmanship, product safety and international marketing are driving a need to modernize production, which in turn is fueling demand for efficient processing technology, automation and quality assurance, as well as packaging solutions, materials and supplies.
That is the gap Morocco Food World is intended to fill. Through its partnership with the Fédération Nationale de l’Agroalimentaire, which represents the Moroccan food industry and maintains close ties with the country’s trade associations and companies, Messe Düsseldorf said the fair will bring together food manufacturers and processors, retailers and international buyers with suppliers of products, technologies and services. That structure, the company said, gives exhibitors from the interpack network direct access to a user industry that continues to invest in and develop its production capabilities.
With Morocco Food World, Messe Düsseldorf said the interpack alliance is gaining another strategically significant location at the crossroads of Europe and Africa, forging new connections for the international processing and packaging sector.
