Syntegon Posts Sales and Margin Growth in First Half of 2026, Powered by Pharma Business

Syntegon, a strategic partner to the global pharmaceutical, biotech and food industries, reported strong first-half 2026 results on September 7, 2026, driven by continued momentum in its Pharma division. Group sales rose 7% year-on-year to EUR883m, while adjusted EBITDA climbed 16% to EUR148m. The adjusted EBITDA margin expanded by 130 basis points to 16.8%, and order intake reached EUR964m. A book-to-bill ratio of 1.09 and a record order backlog of EUR1.3bn give the company a solid foundation for continued growth. The company’s full-year 2026 outlook remains unchanged, targeting continued growth and margin expansion.

“Our first-half 2026 results underline the positive impact of our strategy and the strength of Syntegon’s market position,” said Torsten Türling, CEO of Syntegon. “Our Pharma business remains our strongest growth engine. We achieved major new customer wins and market share gains in the expanding biologics market globally and in the United States in particular.”

“Our first-half results demonstrate Syntegon’s strong operating leverage. Adjusted EBITDA increased more than twice as fast as sales, taking the margin to 16.8 percent,” added Eros Carletti, CFO of Syntegon. “This reflects the stronger earnings contribution from Pharma, operational discipline and continued improvements in project execution. Our solid order book provides a strong foundation for continued profitable growth and cash generation.”

Pharma Business Delivers Double-Digit Growth

The pharmaceutical and biotech industries continue to benefit from structural growth drivers, including the expansion of biologics and injectable medicines and rising demand for more flexible, highly automated production. Syntegon’s Pharma sales grew 14% in the first half of 2026, making the division the largest contributor to Group growth. Demand remained strong for aseptic Fill & Finish and isolator-equipped line solutions, supported by ongoing investment in biologics and injectable medicines as well as tightening regulatory requirements. Pharma Solid also posted double-digit growth, driven by demand for capsule-filling solutions and an expanded granulation product portfolio.

The division’s performance reflects Syntegon’s increasingly customer-centric approach under its strategic lifecycle partner strategy, with innovative new solutions contributing to significant customer wins. Europe remained a resilient core market for Pharma and Biotech, while Pharma sales in Asia rose substantially year-on-year, aided by further market share gains in the expanding biologics segment and the company’s operations in China. In the United States, Pharma order intake increased significantly, reflecting the company’s focused growth strategy for the region.

Food Business Growth Muted by Market Headwinds

Market conditions remained challenging in the first half of 2026, particularly in the Chocolate & Bars segment, where Syntegon holds the global market-leading position. Customers continued to face cost pressure, leading to more cautious investment decisions. Against that backdrop, Syntegon launched new product solutions in the first half aimed at supporting customer needs for greater efficiency and flexibility, reflected in growing adoption of the company’s SVX vertical packaging platform. The company said it is taking appropriate measures to respond to market challenges and defend its premium margin position.

Innovation Targets the Factory of the Future

As customers respond to labor shortages, cost pressure, stricter regulations and growing portfolio complexity, they are increasingly seeking more automated, flexible and efficient production. In the first half, Syntegon launched next-generation solutions featuring enhanced automation, robotics and AI-enabled functionality to support customers’ development of the Factory of the Future. Combined with the company’s lifecycle services, these solutions are designed to help customers achieve the lowest total cost of ownership across their operational footprint.

Outlook Confirmed for Full-Year 2026

Syntegon confirmed its full-year 2026 outlook. With a healthy order book, sustained demand in Pharma and Biotech, and continued focus on disciplined execution, the company expects further profitable growth in 2026.
