Vandemoortele USA has completed its acquisition of New Jersey-based Banneton Bakery, taking full ownership of the Swedesboro manufacturer and concluding a phased transaction that began in April 2024 with the purchase of an 80% stake.
The deal represents a key step in Vandemoortele’s North American growth strategy by establishing a domestic manufacturing base for premium frozen bakery products. The Swedesboro facility specializes in artisan-style croissants, Danish pastries and other laminated dough products, strengthening the company’s ability to serve foodservice, retail and convenience store customers across the region.
The acquisition also combines Banneton’s US manufacturing capabilities with Vandemoortele’s established European import network, creating a hybrid supply model designed to improve logistics flexibility and respond more quickly to customer demand.

Following the completion of the transaction, Alexandre Bloch, previously with Vandemoortele France, has been appointed Operations Manager for the facility. The Banneton brand will remain part of the company’s US portfolio alongside Banquet d’Or, while operations at the Swedesboro site will continue without interruption for retail and foodservice customers.
Founded in Belgium in 1899, Vandemoortele focuses on frozen bakery products and plant-based food solutions. The company operates manufacturing facilities in 12 European countries and supplies customers in more than 95 countries, including the US and Canada. The acquisition strengthens its manufacturing footprint in North America while expanding its capacity to serve growing demand for premium frozen bakery products.
