High Liner Foods Introduces Sea Cuisine Skillet Meals to Expand Frozen Seafood Offerings

High Liner Foods Incorporated has introduced a new line of Sea Cuisine Skillet Meals, unveiling the products this week at Seafood Expo North America.

The launch represents the company’s latest effort to expand complete meal options in the frozen food category while responding to changing consumer expectations around convenience, nutrition and quality.

The new lineup features chef-crafted recipes built around responsibly sourced seafood and globally inspired flavors. Designed for home cooks seeking quick meal solutions, the products can be prepared in a single pan and are ready in about 15 minutes. The meals combine seafood with vegetables, grains or pasta to deliver balanced dishes that emphasize both flavor and protein content.

“Sea Cuisine’s Skillet Meals are made for today’s consumers. We know that consumers are looking for meal options that are easy to prepare, tasty and high in protein and this new lineup of meal options is the answer for the perfect, restaurant-quality, easy weeknight meal,” said Anthony Rasetta, Chief Commercial Officer, High Liner Foods. “We’ve also broadened the frozen seafood meal offerings commonly available to consumers, with sole and salmon options in addition to shrimp, to meet a wider range of tastes and preferences.”

The new range includes three meal varieties built around different seafood options and culinary styles. Mediterranean-Style Sole Pasta pairs wild-caught sole with penne pasta, roasted yellow and red peppers and diced tomatoes in a lemon caper sauce inspired by Mediterranean cuisine, delivering 22 g of protein per portion. Thai Red Curry Salmon combines wild-caught salmon with snap peas, red bell peppers, carrots and brown rice in a Thai red curry sauce and provides 19 g of protein per portion. Chili Garlic Shrimp features shrimp served with chow mein noodles, broccoli, red peppers and carrots in a chili garlic sauce, offering 15 g of protein per portion.

The introduction comes as consumer preferences continue to shift toward meals that are quick to prepare while maintaining nutritional value. According to recent National Eating Trends data, 45% of consumers are seeking meals that require little to no preparation and can be made in a single dish. Meanwhile, 75% prefer meals that can be ready in 15 minutes or less, and 41% say they are actively trying to increase their protein intake.

Product testing suggests the new offerings align with those expectations. More than 87% of participants in testing reported that the meals exceeded their expectations, while 91% said the products were easy to prepare.

With the new Sea Cuisine Skillet Meals, High Liner Foods aims to broaden the range of frozen seafood-based meal solutions available to consumers, positioning the category as both convenient and nutritionally appealing for everyday dining.
