Redefine Meat Expands Plant-Based Lineup at Ocado With Shawarma Launch

Redefine Meat has introduced a new plant-based Shawarma product to its growing range on UK online grocery platform Ocado, targeting increased consumer demand for globally inspired, meat-free options in the ready-to-cook category.

The new frozen product, which draws on Middle Eastern culinary influences, is designed to be served in various sandwich formats, including wraps, pitas, and flatbreads. Made entirely from plant-based ingredients, the Shawarma contains 22 grams of protein, 4 grams of fiber, and no cholesterol. The company says the recipe incorporates a mix of cumin, coriander, clove, and cinnamon, along with natural flavorings and vitamin B12.

The launch follows growing interest in high-protein, low-fat meat alternatives, particularly those suited for seasonal meals such as picnics and quick-serve lunches. Redefine Meat’s Shawarma joins a line of products already available through Ocado, including plant-based flank steak, pulled pork and beef, burgers, mince, lamb kofta, and bratwurst.

“We’re thrilled to be adding another innovative Redefine Meat product to the Ocado range,” said Georgina James, Buyer – Party Food & Vegan at Ocado Retail. “The exceptional feedback and reviews across the Redefine Meat products, along with impressive repeat purchase rates from our customers really stood out to us. Redefine Shawarma is a more sustainable option that delivers on flavour and versatility and we’re confident it’s also going to be a hit with shoppers looking for exciting, plant-based options.”

Redefine Meat, which has applied proprietary additive manufacturing technologies and machine learning to accelerate product development, said the Shawarma recipe was developed using its in-house sensory testing framework involving both culinary professionals and consumer panels.

The product is available now at Ocado.com at a retail price of GBP4.
