Mondi Highlights Semi-Chemical Fluting Portfolio for Food and Heavy-Duty Supply Chains

Mondi, a global packaging and paper group, is positioning its semi-chemical fluting portfolio as a solution for supply chains where durability and consistency are critical, particularly across long transport distances and variable climate conditions.

The company said material selection plays a central role in ensuring products arrive intact, especially in sectors with complex handling and storage requirements.

At the core of Mondi’s offering is a range of semi-chemical containerboard grades designed to deliver strength and stability under demanding conditions. The portfolio includes ProVantage Powerflute, produced from 100% fresh fibre and developed for applications requiring high strength and resistance to changing climates; ProVantage Frescoflute, which provides dimensional stability and compression strength during processing and storage; and ProVantage Aquaflute, engineered for environments where short-term resistance to moisture and water exposure is required.

These materials are used across industries with stringent performance requirements, including fresh fruit and vegetables, dairy and deep-frozen foods, as well as meat, poultry and seafood. They also serve industrial, chemical and automotive sectors, where packaging must withstand both mechanical stress and environmental fluctuations.

Mondi said that selecting the appropriate paper grades and combinations across the layers of corrugated packaging allows for so-called right-weighted solutions, balancing material efficiency with protection throughout converting, packing and distribution processes.

Compared with waste-based alternatives, semi-chemical fluting made from fresh fibre offers lower creep parameters, a measure that is critical for maintaining stacking strength over time under varying humidity and load conditions. To support performance, the company provides advanced creep testing that simulates real-world transport environments, helping customers reduce the risk of packaging failure and product damage.
