The World of F&B under One Roof

About 160,000 purchasers and 6700 suppliers will attend Anuga 2013 in Cologne, between the 5th and 9th of October, making it once again the most important trade show in the world, dedicated to the food and beverages industries.

As always, frozen food will be distinctly represented at this year’s Anuga, scores of companies in attendance, among which Agrarfrost, Ambach, Aviko, Crop’s, Erlenbacher Backwaren, Fresystem, Gunnar Dafgard, Hasa, Lamb Weston, Lutosa, Melzer, Mydibel, Pickenpack, Pinguin, Salomon, Salud Foodgroup, Schnefrost, Surgital and Wernsing, while the segment get-together “Frozen Food” will once again take place as part of Anuga Frozen Food, organized in cooperation with the German Institute for Frozen Products (dti). The successful and clear trade fair concept will remain the same, counting on a high number of international exhibitors and participants, and a top-class specialized supporting program. However, some changes have been implemented to this year’s 32 Anuga, of which some of the most important include a new opening schedule, as well as the expansion of Anuga Foodservice.

New additions

The Anuga trend themes, which have been used as overall topic search terms for structuring the Anuga database since 2005, provide practical assistance for buyers who wish to find cross-segment information about specific subject areas, and starting this year, the organizers have introduced a new trend, focusing on the expansion and rise in popularity of fair trade foodstuffs. This new direction will be featured alongside the well-known trends already showcased during the event: Gourmet Products and Regional Specialties, Halal Food, Organic Products, Vegetarian Products, Health & Functional Food, Kosher Products, Finger Food, Private Labels and Ingredients. Also, beginning this year, organic products may only be presented as part of Anuga Organic, if proof can be provided that they have the appropriate certification. This measure will give buyers even more security, as they check out products and is a significant step forward in terms of quality assurance.

Expansion of Anuga FoodService

The trade show for technology, food and equipment for the food service and catering market provides a focused ordering and information platform for potential customers regarding this market. With all-new elements, Anuga FoodService will be even more precisely tailored to the needs of trade visitors from these segments. Additionally, the second final of the professional cooking competition “AnugaCook of the Year” will be integrated into Anuga FoodService and thiis event will take place on the Culinary Stage located in the Gastronomy Marketplace, presented by the German Hotel and Restaurant Association (Dehoga) Berlin and German Hotel and Restaurant Association (Dehoga) North Rhine-Westphalia and the “Visions of Cooking”.

The supporting program

Numerous specialized events and a networking platform complement the information that is available at Anuga. The Anuga Executive Summit, which takes place the evening before Anuga opens, the Forum for System Catering, the sector get-togethers Dairy Unlimited, Meat Essential and Frozen Food, the WellFood Forum, the Wine Special (including award ceremony) and the new products platform, taste13, are all part of the supporting program. Of note is that this year, the trade show opens its doors at 10 AM daily, meaning one hour later than during previous editions and will close each day at 7PM (6PM on the last day). Lastly, transportation on the buses, trams or trains in Cologne and the surrounding region (the entire VRS network) is free of charge for travelers with an exhibitor pass or a visitor ticket.
