The Wholesale Group is expanding its CHEF Approved bakery portfolio with the launch of Cookie Pucks, a frozen cookie dough product designed to help foodservice operators offer freshly baked desserts while reducing labor requirements and food waste.
The new product targets professional kitchens seeking greater flexibility in dessert preparation, allowing operators to bake cookies directly from frozen in approximately 15 minutes without additional preparation. The company says the format is intended to support portion control and enable kitchens to produce desserts on demand rather than preparing larger batches in advance.
As labor shortages and cost pressures continue to affect the foodservice industry, suppliers have increasingly focused on products that simplify back-of-house operations while maintaining consistency. Ready-to-bake formats have gained traction across bakery and dessert categories as operators look for ways to balance convenience with product quality.
“From a kitchen perspective, Cookie Pucks are about simplicity and control. They bake straight from frozen, require no prep, and allow chefs to produce freshly baked cookies only when needed. The Cookie Pucks range is available in Milk Chocolate, Double Chocolate and White Chocolate varieties. Each puck is pre-portioned and quick frozen, providing operators with the ability to bake only the quantities required for a particular service period. The products can be served warm immediately after baking or cooled for display, making them suitable for a range of foodservice environments including cafés, coffee shops, restaurants, leisure venues and contract catering operations.
The company says the product has been designed to integrate into existing kitchen workflows and can be prepared using deck ovens, rack ovens and fan-assisted ovens, enabling operators to achieve consistent results across different kitchen configurations.
The launch reflects broader demand within the foodservice sector for labor-saving products that offer operational flexibility without sacrificing quality. As operators continue to focus on waste reduction and efficient inventory management, frozen bake-off solutions have become an increasingly important category within commercial kitchens.
