Wells Enterprises announced the national launch of Nutella Ice Cream, a new frozen product line built around the hazelnut-cocoa spread that has become a pantry staple for millions of American households.
The rollout marks the first time the Nutella flavor has been adapted into a standalone ice cream product, now appearing in freezer cases at retailers across the country.
The line comes in two formats. A 14-fluid-ounce container, priced from USD4.36 depending on the retailer, offers a spoonable, multi-textured product featuring layers and swirls of Nutella throughout a creamy ice cream base — positioned by the company as suited for at-home consumption. A single-serve cone option, sold in 4-packs starting at USD5.47, pairs the hazelnut-cocoa flavor with a crispy wafer cone and is marketed as a grab-and-go treat.
Wells Enterprises, headquartered in Le Mars, Iowa — a small Midwest city that bills itself as the Ice Cream Capital of the World — is the largest privately held ice cream manufacturer in the US. Founded in 1913, the company produces more than 200 million gallons of ice cream annually and distributes across all 50 states. It operates as an independent subsidiary of the Ferrero Group and counts Blue Bunny, Halo Top, Bomb Pop and Blue Ribbon Classics among its house brands.
The Nutella Ice Cream launch extends Ferrero’s long-running effort to stretch the Nutella brand beyond its original format, leveraging one of the food industry’s most recognizable flavor profiles to compete in the premium frozen dessert segment.
