Natural Grocers Broadens Private-Label Portfolio With Wild Smoked Salmon Launch

Natural Grocers is expanding its private-label portfolio with the introduction of two varieties of wild smoked salmon, marking a continued push by the family-operated natural and organic grocer to strengthen its in-house offerings.

The new products, sold under the Natural Grocers Brand, include sockeye and coho salmon sourced from wild-caught Alaskan fisheries. The retailer said the additions are designed to meet growing consumer demand for premium, ready-to-eat seafood options that balance quality with everyday convenience.

Sustainably harvested and certified by the Marine Stewardship Council, the salmon is cold smoked in small batches at a long-established seaside smokehouse. The process yields a delicate texture and a mild, balanced flavor profile, making the product suitable for a range of uses, from breakfast bagels and brunch platters to sandwiches, pasta dishes and on-the-go snacking.

Each variety is priced at USD 8.99 for a 3-ounce package, positioning the products within reach of consumers seeking specialty items without a premium price tag typically associated with smoked seafood.

The launch builds on the steady growth of the company’s private-label line, which since its debut in 2016 has expanded to more than 900 products available exclusively in its stores. The move underscores a broader strategy among grocery retailers to differentiate through proprietary brands while responding to heightened interest in traceability, sustainability and ingredient quality.
