Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, the artisan ice cream brand known for its rich textures and inventive flavors, is making its signature indulgence more portable with the nationwide debut of J-Bars.
These new ice cream bars bring the same voluptuous body and buttercream-like texture Jeni’s is known for—now served on a stick and available in freezer aisles across the country.
“We made no concessions and took no shortcuts when making our J-Bars. We held ourselves to the same high standards that we do when creating every pint of ice cream — above all else, every bite had to be wildly delicious,” said Beth Stallings, senior director of innovation at Jeni’s.
The J-Bars lineup features four bold and imaginative flavors designed to capture the full sensory experience Jeni’s fans expect. Vanilla Caramel Sundae is a tribute to the company’s origins, combining vanilla ice cream with smoky almonds, caramel sauce, and a chocolaty shell. Dark Chocolate Bombe offers a deep, palate-gripping chocolate experience with chunks of rich chocolate cookies. Passion Fruit Dreamsicle introduces a tropical twist, melding passion fruit with zesty key lime. And Chocolate Churros & Cream—available exclusively at Whole Foods Market—pairs brown sugar and Vietnamese cinnamon ice cream with a dusting of chocolate and cinnamon cookies.
The concept of the J-Bar is rooted in the company’s early history. Founder Jeni Britton began molding and hand-dipping ice cream bars—then called J-Bars—at the original North Market location in Columbus, Ohio. The Vanilla Caramel Sundae bar pays homage to that first creation and marks the brand’s first foray into frozen bars beyond its scoop shops.
Jeni’s J-Bars are now available at major retailers, including Whole Foods Market, Harris Teeter, and select Target stores. Shoppers can locate the nearest retailer carrying J-Bars through the company’s online grocery locator.
The launch builds on Jeni’s broader expansion in the grocery space. In late 2023, the company introduced a line of ice cream sandwiches, which quickly gained traction with consumers. The Key Lime Pie sandwich, in particular, received industry recognition, earning a finalist spot at the NEXTY Awards at Expo West and being named the best new ice cream sandwich of 2024 by People magazine.
