Lamb Weston Integrates AI And Hyperspectral Imaging In Dutch Plant

Lamb Weston is integrating artificial intelligence and hyperspectral imaging into its potato processing operations at its facility in Oosterbierum, the Netherlands, as part of a collaboration with technology and research partners.

The project involves Smart Industry specialist HAI, Radboud University, and the Institute for Sustainable Process Technology. Lamb Weston said the system enables real-time analysis of potato quality, allowing operators to make faster and more accurate production adjustments.

In a published statement, Lamb Weston said: “The combination of hyperspectral imaging and AI allows us to make better, faster and more in-depth quality predictions.”

“If you can increase the yield on the potato and maximize your output, you can significantly boost the profitability of the factory.”

Lamb Weston said the technology is being embedded directly into daily operations, supporting efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainability goals.
