Mondi, a global producer of sustainable packaging and paper, is building on its long-standing relationship with Pacapime Hungary to deliver corrugated packaging solutions for fresh fruit and vegetables across Central and Western Europe.
Pacapime Hungary operates a 42,000-square-meter corrugated production facility in Mórahalom, with annual capacity reaching up to 180 million square meters. The company supplies customers throughout Hungary, Romania, Croatia, Serbia and Western Europe, with a particular emphasis on packaging for fresh produce such as apples, pears, tomatoes and bell peppers.
Packaging in the fresh fruit and vegetable sector requires a balance of strength, durability and ventilation to protect goods during transport while maintaining an appealing presentation on retail shelves. To meet those demands, Pacapime Hungary relies on Mondi’s ProVantage SmartKraft Brown containerboard grade.
The material features a 100% fresh fibre top ply, designed to ensure surface integrity and consistent quality. Mondi says its strength characteristics provide reliable burst and tear resistance, while its runnability and processing performance support efficient production and dependable box functionality.
“High-quality kraftliners are important in fresh produce applications,” says Tom Pissens, Managing Director at Pacapime Hungary. “The paper must consistently support box performance, as our customers rely on us to deliver quality packaging every time.”
Since 2024, Pacapime Hungary has been led by Lynn and Tom Pissens, representing the fourth generation of the family in the corrugated packaging industry. The company combines decades of experience with a modern production setup intended to support flexibility and fast decision-making, particularly during peak agricultural seasons.
The partnership between Mondi and Pacapime Hungary is structured around long-term collaboration, including technical cooperation and on-site containerboard support. Joint trials, data-driven optimisation and ongoing knowledge exchange are aimed at ensuring packaging solutions remain aligned with shifting customer needs.
“Business is about people and long-term trust,” says Lynn Pissens, Managing Director at Pacapime Hungary. “Our collaboration with Mondi provides the stability and technical expertise that allow us to deliver consistent quality and drive innovation together.”
Sustainability remains a shared priority for both companies. Pacapime Hungary has invested in initiatives including water treatment systems, solar panels and transparent certification processes to meet rising expectations from customers and consumers. Mondi’s containerboard portfolio, produced from a full fibre mix, is positioned to support circular packaging models that protect products while improving material efficiency.
By combining technical expertise, high-quality containerboard and a collaborative approach, Mondi and Pacapime Hungary aim to provide corrugated packaging solutions that help reduce food waste, strengthen supply-chain value and protect fresh produce from field to shelf.
