Syntegon, the global packaging solutions provider, unveiled its expanded facility in Weert, Netherlands, marking a significant step in the company’s strategic expansion.
The renovation, which began in March 2023, features a new office building and enhanced production space, designed to boost manufacturing capabilities while advancing the company’s environmental goals.
The inauguration ceremony drew top executives including CEO Torsten Türling and Executive Vice President Ann Cuylaerts, alongside representatives from the project’s main contractor. The expansion represents a careful balance between operational efficiency and environmental responsibility, according to company officials.
“Process efficiency, a reduction of the carbon footprint, and modern working requirements were the main drivers of this project. We are looking forward to welcoming our customers in this new state-of-the-art environment,” said Managing Director Frank van Kuijk. “Furthermore, we now offer our employees a motivating workspace that fosters cross-functional collaboration and ideal conditions for personal growth.”
The renovated facility consolidates operations previously spread across three buildings into a more streamlined setup. The new 4,000-square-meter production space, featuring an 11-meter ceiling height, allows for flexible manufacturing configurations and increased output capacity. The design enables Syntegon to conduct manufacturing, assembly, testing, and shipping operations under one roof.
In line with its ambitious environmental targets, Syntegon aims to slash its carbon footprint by 50% between 2019 and 2030. The Weert facility’s redesign plays a crucial role in this initiative. “Thanks to the new site layout, we now have the potential to reduce our gas consumption by up to 60 percent. This would amount to an annual CO2 reduction of 240 tons,” van Kuijk noted. The facility employs heat pumps instead of gas heating, complemented by LED lighting and solar panels, marking a significant shift toward renewable energy usage.
The expansion also includes 1,500 square meters of modern office space, featuring contemporary amenities such as glass walls, conference areas, and coffee lounges. The new layout, which connects to the existing Customer Experience and Innovation center, aims to enhance collaboration among departments while improving customer engagement.
“This new building marks a milestone in Syntegon’s growth journey. It reflects our commitment to innovation and collaboration, and to creating the best experience for our customers and employees,” CEO Türling emphasized, underlining the strategic importance of the expansion.
The renovation demonstrates Syntegon’s commitment to modernizing its operations while pursuing sustainability goals, positioning the company for future growth in the competitive packaging solutions market.
