UK’s Adelie Invests in New National Distribution Centre

Leading chilled food to go business Adelie Foods has announced plans to open a new state of the art National Distribution Centre at Prologis Park in Heathrow later this year.

Adelie, which was acquired by H.I.G Capital in March, has investedGBP4million in the 100,000+ square foot facility in order to provide vital additional capacity to support its continued volume growth and the further development of its third party distribution network.

The new distribution center, which is located just 1.6 miles from Heathrow Airport, will be fully operational from September.

Adelie Supply Chain Director Rick Kovac explains: “The new facility at Prologis Park gives us the opportunity to create a state of the art distribution operation that will enable us to provide a fantastic working environment for the team, drive operating efficiencies and, most importantly, enhance the level of service we deliver to our customers.

“We are making a very significant investment in our distribution model as we continue to grow the Adelie business; in addition to the new National Distribution Centre we will be opening a new standalone distribution site in Scotland in the next few months and have also introduced a new 80 strong fleet of fuel efficient vehicles supported by an extensive programme of driver training.”

Adelie, founded in 2006, has built a reputation as the leading manufacturer of ultra-fresh sandwich products to the retail, coffee shop and the food service sectors making nationwide deliveries of up to a million fresh sandwiches every day.
