Americana, Farm Frites to Invest USD100m in Cutting-Edge Frozen French Fries Facility in Saudi Arabia

In a move set to reshape the region’s food production landscape, Americana Holding for Food Ltd, through its subsidiary the Agricultural Growth and Processing Company, is investing USD100m (SAR375m) to establish a state-of-the-art Greenfield Frozen French Fries factory in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

This strategic collaboration with Farm Frites, a global leader in potato cultivation and frozen fries production, will bolster the partners’ presence in the MENA region and strengthen their decades-long alliance.

The new facility, to be located in Sudair Industrial and Business City, underscores Americana’s commitment to Saudi Vision 2030, the Kingdom’s initiative to diversify its economy and enhance food security. By increasing local production capacity and creating jobs for Saudi nationals and local farmers, the investment aligns with key national objectives. Americana, which already operates two factories in Jeddah, will expand its footprint in Saudi Arabia while supporting the Kingdom’s agricultural sector.

The factory will span more than 100,000 square meters and feature cutting-edge technology to produce Frozen French Fries and specialty potato products. Scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2026, the plant will have an annual production capacity of 70,000 metric tons in its initial phase, with further expansions planned. Once operational, it will represent the second joint venture between Americana and Farm Frites, positioning the partnership as the largest producer of Frozen French Fries in the MENA region.

Americana Chairman Mohamed Ali Rashid Alabbar expressed enthusiasm for the venture, highlighting the enduring partnership with Farm Frites that began in Egypt in 1988. “We are thrilled to begin construction of this new plant in Saudi Arabia, deepening our collaboration with a trusted partner. This project not only furthers our commitment to the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 but also reflects our pride in supporting local production and development,” Alabbar stated. He credited key Saudi government entities, including the Ministry of Investment, the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, and the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, for their pivotal roles in facilitating the project.

Farm Frites Chairman Piet de Bruijne echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the significance of Saudi Arabia as one of the company’s top five global markets. “Our renewed partnership with Americana builds on a shared legacy of growth and success. The Kingdom is central to our global operations, and we are committed to contributing to its economic diversification while delivering superior value to customers across the MENA region,” de Bruijne remarked.

This landmark project not only cements Americana and Farm Frites’ leadership in the region’s frozen foods sector but also sets the stage for transformative growth, driven by innovation and a shared vision for sustainable development.
