FPS Food Process Solutions and its subsidiary GEM Equipment of Oregon said they have introduced a new industrial fryer aimed at the fast-growing snack and appetizer segment, expanding their collaboration in food-processing equipment.
The companies said the new system, called the GEM VersaFry, is designed to handle a wide range of products, including specialty potato items, poultry, seafood, vegetables and baked goods that require precise frying before further processing. FPS, based in Vancouver, said the fryer reflects a joint effort to focus on durability, safety and ease of maintenance as processors seek higher efficiency and lower operating costs.
The VersaFry includes operating and sanitation modes intended to improve oil quality, fire safety and cleanability, the companies said. Features include an adjustable infeed conveyor designed to withstand high oil temperatures, a long-life main conveyor to reduce contamination risk, a hood-raising system that allows full access to the kettle for cleaning and maintenance, an oil recirculation pump to stabilize oil levels and temperature, and a dual crumb-removal system intended to extend oil life.
FPS said the fryer is built with longevity as a priority and is already being adopted in large food-processing plants, supported by the company’s global service network.
“GEM Equipment continues to astound – with their deep engineering expertise and robust workmanship, we are truly collaborative in every sense of the word. This is what it means to offer customers a ‘one-stop shop’ for their food processing needs,” said Jeffrey Chang, president of FPS Food Process Solutions Corp.
