The iFood Conference
The German Institute of Food Technologies DIL hosted the third iFood Conference during September 12–13, which involved global, interdisciplinary dialogue around the world’s food megatrends and production with regard to sustainability.
Major topics included the Industry 4.0, with the smart factory at the forefront of this concept, powered by the Internet of Things and leading the way towards a new economic era with unprecedented sales opportunities, as well as the ever-increasing flexibility of mechanized production procedures.
The future of food production will be largely influenced by merging virtual opportunities with the dynamics of international markets. The potential benefits and challenges of this development were one of the main topics of this year’s iFood Conference. Socio-economic developments and their impact on consumer behavior were discussed, besides elaborate conceptual solutions for the food industry.
The next Anuga will take place October 7–11, 2017.
