CLdN said it will launch a new weekly lift-on, lift-off container service between Rotterdam’s Distriport terminal and the Portuguese port of Leixões, expanding its shipping links between northern Europe and the Iberian Peninsula.
The company said the service is aimed at meeting rising customer demand on the route and will complement its existing two weekly roll-on, roll-off return sailings between Rotterdam, Zeebrugge and Leixões. The move reflects a broader strategy unveiled in 2024 to deploy container vessels alongside RoRo ships on longer-distance routes.
CLdN said the combined operating model is designed to give customers greater scheduling flexibility and more frequent sailings while helping reduce carbon dioxide emissions per unit. The new LoLo service is scheduled to begin on Sunday, 25 January.
