The German Bakers’ Confederation and GHM Gesellschaft für Handwerksmessen have renewed their long-standing partnership, agreeing to continue their cooperation through 2039 in organizing iba, widely regarded as the world’s leading trade fair for the baking and confectionery industry.
Under the agreement, GHM will remain responsible for organizing the exhibition on behalf of the German Bakers’ Confederation, which serves as the conceptual owner of the event. The extension ensures that five additional editions of the trade fair will be held at three-year intervals, reinforcing iba’s role as a central meeting point for the global baking sector.
The renewed contract builds on a partnership that dates back nearly seven decades. The two organizations first joined forces in 1958 to stage the International Bakery Exhibition, the event that later evolved into iba. Since 2006, GHM has taken sole responsibility for organizing the exhibition in collaboration with the German Bakers’ Confederation, overseeing its expansion into the largest international gathering dedicated to the baking and confectionery industry.
Industry leaders say the long-term agreement provides stability for a sector that relies on predictable planning cycles for major trade events and investments.
For GHM, the agreement reinforces the strategic importance of the event within its portfolio of trade fairs and industry exhibitions.
Over the years, iba has developed into a major international platform that brings together companies from across the baking supply chain, including equipment manufacturers, ingredient suppliers, artisan bakeries and industrial producers. The exhibition serves as a forum where innovations are introduced, market trends are debated and new business relationships are established.
Organizers say the event will continue to evolve in response to the changing needs of the global baking industry, maintaining its role as a future-oriented platform connecting trade, technology and production expertise from around the world.
