Market research company IMARC says the Indian frozen food industry will grow by 17% annually during 2020-24 as the coronavirus pandemic has made people conscious about healthy choices while buying daily essentials, Press Trust of India news agency reports.
The high cost of processed food items posed a major challenge for the frozen food sector to grow, but as people start eating healthier, the frozen food sector has been seeing an upward spiral. People have started preferring quality over costs and traders are taking advantage of this trend. “Encouraging healthy food, the industry is yet to upend. The enhanced processes and high standards of trade will eventually contribute to the growth of the country, making India competitive internationally and looking forward to becoming a healthier, successful nation,” Daniel Kaplan, representative, treasurer and board member of the World Food Logistics Organisation said.
