The Kraft Heinz Company will donate USD12mn globally in cash&food, including frozen meals, to ensure supplies are provided to those in need.
The company is donating USD1.9m in cash to Feeding America, the largest domestic hunger-relief organization in the United States, to help support food banks located in and near places where the company has offices and plants, such as the Greater Chicago Food Depository and the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. Kraft Heinz says it will also send USD4.7mn worth of products including Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, Heinz Gravy, Planters Nut Mixes, DEVOUR frozen meals to Feeding America member food banks.
Other commitments with food bank partners in countries where Kraft Heinz operates are being currently discussed. The list of countries to receive aid includes Italy, Spain, Australia, and the Netherlands.
The company also made donations during the outbreak in China, partnering with Babytree, one of the largest parenting websites in China, to send more than 4,000 boxes of Heinz infant food to families in need.
In the UK, Kraft Heinz will work with Magic Breakfast, a charity that provides healthy school breakfasts to hungry and malnourished children, to donate 12 million breakfasts.
In Canada, the company will be making a series of donations to Food Banks Canada, which serves 650 food banks, starting with more than 100,000 boxes of KD/Kraft Dinner.
