Pecan Deluxe Candy Brings Its Production In-house

Pecan Deluxe Candy has announced the completion of a seven-year project in partnership with Dawnsongroup Temperature Control Solutions (DGTCS) to bring custom-built production facilities and streamlining processes in-house for the first time.

The GBP3m investment to its plant in the north of England will provide an initial seven cold stores to support the growth of new product lines and departments, as well as a complete construction build and washroom to ensure stringent hygiene standards.

The first stage of development enabled product storage to be handled completely on-site, delivering significant savings by removing the need for offsite storage and distribution and therefore associated handling costs, as well as the time taken to audit third parties.

“After getting to know Pecan Deluxe and understanding its ambitious growth plans, we worked in partnership to agree a staged plan of new facilities that would be introduced over a number of years to increase efficiency and improve manufacturing processes, said Michael Sansum, DGTCS product development manager. “Seven years on, we’ve now handed over the keys to a brand new build which has brought all processes on-site to deliver financial savings and give Pecan Deluxe complete ownership of its production line. Rather than being reliant on third parties to hold raw materials, deliver the correct stock on time, and store produce at the right temperature, Pecan Deluxe can now solely use its own facilities to create high-quality products, as well as vastly improving site security,” Sansum went on.

According to Graham Kingston, managing director at Pecan Deluxe Candy, originally the factory had a collection of portable cold store units located outside the factory which wasn’t an ideal set-up in terms of ingredient storage and handling. Now the new facility acts as a real differentiator for Pecan Deluxe.

“The investment we have made over these seven years has given us the ability to oversee every element of our manufacturing process. Not only has this provided financial benefits, but also enables us to ensure our products are of the highest possible standard – we’re now leading the way as global ingredient manufacturer, not just following,” Kingston explained.

In related news, Pecan Deluxe also recently pledged to help meet ongoing demand with the development of brand-new flavors for both praline nuts and seeds.

The company still manufacturers its pralines the traditional way – combining real butter and sugar in copper pans to produce premium quality praline inclusions for ice cream, confectionery, and other desserts.

Pecan Deluxe’s extended praline range is available ambient or frozen, from 2-6mm up to 16mm in cases up to 20kg, as well as in reduced salt format. The company is constantly investing to develop new flavors and textures and can create bespoke products tailor-made to customers’ requirements.
