Traditional cooking is losing ground in the Czech Republic, as more consumers find interest in healthy eating and convenience products. As a result, the frozen food market is growing significantly in the country, according to information by market research company Food For Thought.
The most dynamic segment is represented by chilled ready meals, which accounts for almost a third of the market, while frozen ready meals continue to remain the largest segment. Another noteworthy segment is the frozen pizza category, which is developing rapidly.
Along this main category, the study identifies that canned ready meals also maintain a strong position on the market, being supported by the cuisine of the Czechs, with products such as goulash and specialties based on meat and pulses.
Moreover, dehydrated ready meals suppliers are also active with new ranges like instant pasta with traditional sauces, which is consumed mostly outside of the home.
