The U.S. Waffle Company plans to open a new frozen food processing facility in Pickens County, South Carolina. According to the state’s Office of the Governor, the company is set to invest USD22.1m in the project, which is projected to create approximately 114 new jobs in the area.
U.S. Waffle Company will be relocating existing operations and adding new production lines by moving into the existing 310,000-sqft. facility in Liberty. The company is set to start producing frozen pancakes and waffles for a variety of retailers and restaurants at the new facility, which is expected to open its gates in the fourth quarter of 2019.
“We are excited for our new Pickens County facility to come online, as it will allow our team to continue providing high-quality products to our customers. We would like to thank our local and state partners for their continued support, and we look forward to joining the Pickens County business community,” said Chief Executive Officer of U.S. Waffle Company John Symons.
The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to this project. A USD200,000 Set Aside grant was also awarded to Pickens County to assist with costs associated with the project.
