Asda’s Plant-Based Falafel Burger was named winner of the FAIR trophy for the Best FreeFrom Food 2020, overtaking products from Lazy Vegan, Lidl, Ruby and Grace, and Venice Bakery.
“This is the way forward for freefrom. An excellent, naturally top 14 free ‘cool and on message’ product. Lovely fragrant roasted spices and delicious taste. Good list of ingredients, nutritional vegan profile, and fiber levels. Lovely, moist, full of flavor, really hearty, and a fantastic range of vegetables,” the jury’s reasoning shows.
The Box Bakery and its Wholegrain Bread Mix with Linseeds, Sunflower and Pumpkin Seeds & Quinoa shared the gold medal for innovation with Our Paula’s Garlic Butta, while No AllerG Desserts’ Chocolate Loaf Cake was crowned Best Product from a Start-up.
Special awards included Retailer of the Year (Tesco Free From), and FreeFrom Hero (The Ednan Laperouse family and Natasha’s Allergy Foundation).
