Givaudan Breaks Ground on Major Production Facility Near Cincinnati

Givaudan, the Swiss-based global leader in Taste & Wellbeing, has broken ground on a new state-of-the-art liquids production facility in Reading, Ohio, marking one of its most significant investments in the United States in recent years.

The project underscores the company’s commitment to the North American market and its long-term strategy of expanding production capacity while advancing sustainability goals.

The new facility represents an initial investment of CHF 187 million (USD 215 million) and will cover 24,000 square meters within a 100,000-square-meter site reserved for future expansion. The location, near Cincinnati, will complement Givaudan’s existing operations in the region and serve as a key hub for liquid flavor production.

“This new facility represents our largest investment in the US in many years, demonstrating the importance of the market to Givaudan and to the food and beverage industry,” said Gilles Andrier, Chief Executive Officer. “It is a tangible example of Givaudan’s 2030 strategy in action, strengthening our market and operational presence, extending customer reach, and advancing sustainable, innovative solutions that consumers love.”

The project is part of Givaudan’s broader effort to meet rising demand for flavor and wellness solutions in North America. The facility will incorporate advanced technologies to maximize efficiency and minimize environmental impact. Once fully operational, it is expected to create more than 300 jobs across a range of disciplines, from manufacturing and logistics to product development and engineering.

“By expanding our operational capabilities, we’re positioning ourselves for future innovation as we continue to deliver tailored solutions within North America,” said Antoine Khalil, President of Taste & Wellbeing. “Driven by the dedication of our employees, the new facility will strengthen our ability to help grow customer brands by delivering distinctive, memorable food experiences that resonate with consumers.”

In keeping with Givaudan’s sustainability and community engagement commitments, the Reading facility will be designed with several environmental initiatives in mind. The company plans to operate the site without natural gas, helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and will implement technologies such as carbon bed filtration to improve environmental performance. Givaudan also intends to collaborate with local organizations to support educational and community development programs.

Construction is already underway, with completion expected in about 18 months. Partial operations are set to begin in early 2027. The new site will join Givaudan’s network of 17 Taste & Wellbeing facilities across the United States and Canada, expanding its production footprint and reinforcing its role as a key supplier to North America’s food and beverage sector.
