Veggiecus, a specialist in plant-based protein blends, is broadening its portfolio with a new line of ready-to-use meat alternatives designed for the foodservice market and private-label partners.
As consumer demand for plant-based dishes continues to rise, Veggiecus is moving beyond its established range of protein base mixes to offer frozen, fully prepared products. The new line includes plant-based kebab strips, meatballs, schnitzels, and burger patties—each made from pea protein, free of soy, and formulated with short ingredient lists that minimize allergens. The products are designed for quick preparation, offering flexibility and convenience for commercial kitchens with limited space or staff training.
“Many businesses want to offer plant-based meat alternatives, but lack the capacity or expertise to mix their own blends or manage complex processes,” said Kathrin Rietmann, Business Development Manager at Veggiecus. “With our new ready-made products, we make it even easier for restaurateurs and system catering operators: unpack, cook briefly in a pan, air fryer or deep fryer, and serve – with no compromise on quality, texture or taste.”
The new frozen line marks a natural progression for Veggiecus, which operates as the plant-based division of Theodor Rietmann GmbH. Founded in 1967, the family-owned company began as a producer of baking ingredients and later gained recognition in the 2000s for its high-protein breads and sports nutrition products. Since 2021, it has been developing dry mixes for plant-based meat alternatives used in products such as sausages, patties, minced items, nuggets, and specialty foods like the Turkish garlic sausage Sucuk.
Working with a specialized production partner, Veggiecus is expanding its presence in the growing global market for plant-based foods. The company now offers both dry and frozen options as white-label or private-label solutions tailored to customer needs. “Especially in the kebab segment, we’re seeing huge demand,” Rietmann said. “Many chains don’t have the space for a separate vegan spit – our frozen solution is the perfect fit.”
Veggiecus’s products have already gained attention at trade fairs such as IFFA, where the company’s base mixes were recognized for their simplicity. Unlike competing products that require multi-step preparation, Veggiecus formulations typically need only water and seasoning—or soon, just a quick thaw from the freezer. This ease of use positions the brand as an attractive option for system catering, contract catering, student services, and restaurant chains aiming to expand their plant-based offerings efficiently.
