PackSynergy Appoints Thomas Wolf As Chief Executive Officer

PackSynergy AG has announced the appointment of Thomas Wolf as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective April 1, 2026. He will succeed long-serving CEO Thomas Baur, who is retiring after many years with the Ravensburg-based packaging network.

Baur’s departure marks the end of a significant chapter for the organization. During his tenure, PackSynergy evolved into a prominent European alliance of medium-sized packaging distributors. The network now operates across 26 countries and has established itself as a collaborative platform connecting local packaging specialists across national markets.

Under Baur’s leadership, the association expanded its strategic role in the industry, focusing on cooperation, knowledge exchange and joint initiatives among its members. The organization credits his tenure with strengthening the internal network structure and reinforcing PackSynergy’s position as a trusted partner in the packaging sector.

PackSynergy highlighted Baur’s role in shaping both the organization’s economic growth and its collaborative culture. Numerous initiatives launched during his leadership were designed to reinforce cooperation between member companies and to ensure the long-term stability of the network.

The supervisory board and members of PackSynergy expressed appreciation for his contributions, noting that his strategic vision and commitment had left a lasting imprint on the organization.

New Leadership From Network Management Background

Wolf brings experience in network development and association management to the role. A trained computer scientist with a Master’s degree in Entrepreneurship, he most recently served as Head of Division at the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg.

In that position, he oversaw a range of strategic areas including innovation and technology, energy and environment, internationalization and business development. Wolf has also been a member of the chamber’s executive management team for nine years.

Alongside this role, he spent 13 years as Managing Director of TechnologyMountains e. V., a regional technology network. During that period, the organization expanded from 40 to more than 500 members, reflecting significant growth in participation and influence.

Wolf said he looks forward to building on the network’s foundations. “I am very much looking forward to continuing PackSynergy’s successful path,” he said. “The responsibilities and challenges of the association are highly exciting. Together with the team and our members, I aim to actively shape the further development of PackSynergy and continue strengthening the unique advantages of this network.”

Strategic Continuity For European Packaging Network

PackSynergy has positioned itself as one of Europe’s leading packaging networks, connecting independent distributors and packaging specialists across borders. For more than 25 years, the organization has focused on strengthening collaboration between members while creating added value for customers through shared expertise and joint activities.

Supervisory Board Chairman Thomas Horna said the appointment reflects the organization’s intention to continue strengthening its network model. “We are very pleased to have appointed Thomas Wolf, an expert in networks and association structures, as our new Chief Executive Officer,” he said. “His experience and strategic perspective will provide important momentum for the future of PackSynergy AG.”

Wolf will assume leadership of the organization at a time when collaboration and supply chain resilience remain key themes in the European packaging sector. The network’s cross-border structure is designed to allow members to share knowledge, coordinate activities and respond collectively to evolving market demands.
