Food Safety Conference

The 12th International Fresenius Conference “Food Safety and Dietary Risk Assessment” from 5 to 6 March 2014 in Mainz (near Frankfurt)/Germany will shine a light on current scientific findings, will introduce new propositions for better consumer protection on behalf of the regulatory authorities and will as well debate industry experience with assessment methods.

The conference will discuss a bunch of news regarding exposure assessment models in the context of pesticide residues and cumulative risk assessment. Among other things, the participants will gain an insight into the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office Pesticide Program (OPP), will get to know the outcomes of the ACROPOLIS project and will obtain information concerning combined exposures. Also uncertainties in exposure and risk assessment will be addressed. Other presentations will deal with the OECD Guidance Document on crop field trials, with ideas for an EU Guidance Document on the levels of residues in fish and with new data requirements regarding proportionality. In addition, there is another focus on the topic area of Maximum Residues Limits (MRLs). Therefore the developments in EU legislation, the JMPR principles of MRL setting as well as the modernization of the Japanese registration system will be debated.
