The frozen food market has grown in value by 2.5%, to almost GBP 5.8bn, according to the latest report from Kantar Worldpanel, which analyses the 52 weeks ending June 22, 2014.
Year-on-year, the most dynamic category has been ice-cream, with a volume growth of 7.1%, and a value growth of 9.9%, to GBP850m. Other growth areas in value terms were recorded in the frozen potato category, with a rise of 5.6% as well as frozen savory foods, with 4.3%.
Brian Young, chief executive of the British Frozen Food Federation, said: “The retail frozen food market has now enjoyed year-on-year value growth for the last 14 quarters. This steady growth is particularly impressive when you compare it with the food retail market in general.
