It has become obvious, for the better part of 2020, that the frozen food category is experiencing all-time sales highs. Consumer research indicates this momentum will continue even after the pandemic subsides. “Strong sales data only tells part of the story,” according to American Frozen Food Institute (AFFI) President and CEO Alison Bodor. “Frozen foods align with the times we’re living in, offering consumers nutrition, variety, ease of preparation, and certainty at a moment we’re needing it more than ever in our kitchens and on our tables.”
AFFI says there are five key reasons why frozen foods will be on 2021’s trend list. they meet the growing demand for plant-based foods; they check the box for immunity-boosting foods; frozen fits the growing demand for personalized nutrition; they beat back cooking fatigue, and frozen staples offer certainty during uncertain times.
On the base of these main ideas, the Institute argues there is little doubt cast on the development of the category in 2021.
