The Master Good Group, a long-term customer of GEA, has been able to embrace automation and meet its sustainability goals, as well as meet the growing demand from retailers for its chicken products and ready meals, thanks in large part to the combination of GEA’s cutting-edge technology and its industry-leading expertise.
Since it was established in 1994, the poultry company that is now in its fourth generation of family ownership in Hungary and has been in operation for 115 years has gone from strength to strength and is now responsible for the employment of 2,800 people. The group attributes a significant portion of its phenomenal growth to the manufacturing solutions provided by GEA, and their factories are among the most productive of their kind anywhere in the world.
Master Good raises chickens and grows crops specifically for the production line. In total, the company raises 25 million chicks each year and processes 100,000 tons of animal feed (cereals mostly for bird stock). In terms of the land they possess, they have 5,500 hectares of land dedicated to the production of cereal and grain, in addition to 100,000 m2 of space dedicated to housing the broiler hens.
Keeping in mind the importance of sustainability, Master Good is making strides toward achieving zero carbon emissions by the year 2030. Ably assisted by GEA, which is working to make the production lines as efficient as possible. Already, solar panels account for 20% of the company’s total power generation, and the remnants from the butchery are recycled into food for animals. The different lines of the company are experiencing a gradual increase in the amount of automation, which is increasing their capacity, reducing their downtime, and generating a large number of opportunities for the development of new products. GEA is actively involved in all of this, providing support and working alongside Master Good to locate the appropriate solutions and assisting the company in overcoming the challenges.
GEA’s cutting-edge solutions, including the spiral freezers with Callifreeze that are used at the Hungarian plant, have given Master Good the precision and accuracy they need to boost their productivity without sacrificing the overall quality of their product. “Our customers are fascinated by what they see here, and they really like the opportunities that such a precise line can offer,” László Bárány, who, with his brother Peter runs Master Good said.
