La Lorraine

Belgian bakery group La Lorraine has invested a further EUR12.5m in its subsidiary’s factory, located in Campia Turzii, Romania, reports local publication Ziarul Financiar.

The capital injection sees a new production line being added at the plant, which, so far, has operated four. The fifth addition is dedicated to high-quality rustic bread made with ingredients such as sourdough and seeds and is reportedly already fully functional.

According to the information, the line is almost entirely automated, having a production capacity of 160,000 products per day, which are destined for the internal, as well as external markets.

The new investment will create 20 new jobs by the end of this year, and an additional 40 positions by the end of 2020.

La Lorraine Romania is one of the main suppliers of pre-baked products on the Romanian market: in 2018, 36,000 tons of frozen pre-baked bakery and frozen pastry products were produced in the Campia Turzii factory. 30,000 tons reached the domestic market, and 6,000 tons were destined for export.
