Butt Foods – a UK-based frozen bakery business – has recently made an investment towards installing thermoforming technology from GEA with the aim to boost productivity and increase efficiency.
Family-run Butt Foods selected GEA’s new PowerPak PLUS thermoformer for wrapping naan breads at its Nottingham facility. The decision comes as the company is seeking out new markets for its range of hand-finished frozen sweet and savory products.
GEA’s PowerPak PLUS promises to significantly reduce the impact of film waste by up to 75% in the packaging process. The machine’s design can also help food manufacturers shorten set-up and changeover times. Additionally, it can be operated in tandem with Oxycheck, the non-invasive in-line quality control system for Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP).
“The equipment was a significant milestone for Butt Foods as we are an SME and this was our most important purchase to date. GEA made several site visits before the installation on the line, and all trials have been successful,” said Danesh Butt, managing director of Butt Foods.
