Little Caesars Partners with North Sun Energy to Accelerate Canadian Expansion

Little Caesars, the world’s third-largest pizza chain, is gearing up for a major expansion in Canada with its largest franchise agreement to date.

The company has teamed up with North Sun Energy, a prominent fuel and convenience retailer operating across Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. This partnership will bring Little Caesars’ signature Crazy Bread and HOT-N-READY pizza to customers on the move at 18 of North Sun Energy’s gas stations and convenience stores.

David Button, President of North Sun Energy, highlighted the appeal of the collaboration amid evolving consumer preferences. “With the increasing demand for fresh and delicious meals at our locations, Little Caesars stood out as an ideal brand to collaborate with,” he said. Button emphasized how Little Caesars’ value-driven approach, especially during a period of high inflation, aligns with North Sun Energy’s mission to enhance the fuel and convenience experience. The first of these new outlets is set to open this summer at the North Atlantic and Orangestore location in Clarenville, Newfoundland and Labrador, with plans to roll out additional locations across the network in the coming months and years.

North Sun Energy will deploy Little Caesars’ Express restaurant model, a compact format that operates in spaces as small as 450 square feet and requires no more than two employees per shift. These new pizza venues will be incorporated within existing Orangestores—North Sun Energy’s flagship convenience store brand—as well as through remodels of gas stations and convenience sites, along with new buildouts.

Chloe Battalia, Managing Director for Canada at Little Caesars, described the partnership as a key step in the brand’s broader growth strategy across the country. “Our relationship with North Sun Energy exemplifies the kind of strategic alignment that enables us to bring Little Caesars to more non-traditional formats,” she said. Battalia added that such collaborations position the brand for long-term success by increasing accessibility to its popular HOT-N-READY offerings, meeting customers wherever their day takes them.
