Swiss giant Nestlé has announced it is currently analyzing strategic options for the future development of Davigel, its frozen food subsidiary, which targets the foodservice markets in Europe, with branded frozen and chilled food, as well as ice-cream.
According to a company statement released today, “this mainly involves identifying a partner to help Davigel in its next stage of growth while safeguarding the best interests of employees, customers and shareholders.”
Davigel employs around 3100 people in France, where it is headquartered, and recorded a turnover of EUR700m in 2013. Its products are split in six categories dedicated to the out-of-home market, including ready meals, fish & seafood, meat & poultry and desserts.
Nestle bought Davigel in 1989 from Buitoni and was looking at selling the frozen food unit for about EUR300m in February this year, as part of its strategy to divest some of its non-core units, according to Reuters.
