NFRA: Freezer Aisle at the Center of New Cooking Habits

The way Americans approach cooking is undergoing a transformation, and the frozen food aisle is at the center of the shift.

Once relegated to convenience meals, frozen foods have evolved into a category offering fresh-tasting ingredients, chef-inspired dishes, and cost-effective solutions tailored to modern lifestyles. With the arrival of March Frozen Food Month, consumers have an opportunity to take a closer look at the growing innovation within the frozen aisle.

“For decades, frozen foods have been a trusted solution for busy families, offering quality, variety, and affordability,” said Tricia Greyshock, President and CEO of the National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association (NFRA).

“From quick-prep meals to flash-frozen produce, frozen foods help consumers save time, reduce waste, and enjoy delicious meals on their terms. March is the perfect time to explore the convenience and innovation happening in the frozen food aisle.”

Consumer research highlights the increasing role of frozen foods in household meal planning. A growing number of shoppers prefer quick-prep options and organized ingredient selections that allow them to assemble meals efficiently.

The research further indicates that a significant portion of consumers see frozen foods as an essential tool in simplifying their daily cooking routines.

NFRA, a non-profit trade association representing all segments of the frozen and refrigerated foods industry, sponsors national promotional campaigns throughout the year, including March Frozen Food Month.

The organization also provides consumer resources, including food safety guidelines, meal preparation tips, and recipe ideas, through its Easy Home Meals website and social media channels. As frozen food offerings continue to expand in quality and variety, the category is becoming an increasingly integral part of how Americans cook at home.
