Strawberry Crop 2014 Delayed in Morocco

Because of unfavorable weather conditions in February, as well as a lack of investments in potted plants, the frozen strawberry campaign started late this year in Morocco, according to frozen fruit specialist Dirafrost.

“Now the production quantities of strawberries are rising little by little and we expect that we will be able to compensate for the lost quantities of early February, by the end of the season. This season we will have a 30% capacity increase in our own factory, thanks to the new freezing line, which was installed last year. The expectations for this season in terms of yield are at the same level of last year, but raw material price is higher than last year. The target is to produce 12.000 tons of frozen strawberries by the end of the season, in June”, said Dirafrost representatives.
