The Syntegon Group released their first report on sustainability. As a result, the industry leader in processing and packaging technologies is increasing openness and giving stakeholders better access to information about its sustainability management procedures.
With reference to the accepted sustainability reporting standard of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Syntegon created the report for the fiscal year 2022. The company’s environmental, social, and responsible corporate governance activities are described in this paper. By releasing a sustainability report, Syntegon has already complied with future regulations. The business will now report on its environmental initiatives yearly.
“With the publication of this first report, we are underscoring the significance of sustainability as part of our corporate strategy and demonstrating our commitment to environmental, social, and responsible corporate governance practices,” says Dr. Michael Grosse, chief executive officer of the Syntegon Group. “Our strategy is centered on our products: With our resource-sparing machines, we are doing our part to shrink the ecological footprint of pharmaceuticals and food production. And we are helping to make packaging more sustainable with our technologies and services.”
The switch from traditional plastic packaging to paper and more recyclable mono-materials was a renewed focus of Syntegon’s activities in 2022. One example is the new PMX packaging machine for whole and ground coffee beans, which processes recyclable mono-materials and supports condition monitoring to save energy and resources. In 2022, Syntegon will also include lock-style technology into its tried-and-true Sigpack TTM cartoner platform. This technology reduces the use of resources and energy.
The industrial processes in the food and pharmaceutical industries benefit from increased energy efficiency and resource conservation thanks to Syntegon’s intelligent, sustainable processing and packaging solutions. The business created a way of assessing the carbon emissions of the equipment in its portfolio in 2022 as part of a life-cycle evaluation. Now Syntegon can provide a completely transparent perspective of the carbon footprint of the implemented technologies to food and pharmaceutical producers.
Syntegon supports the Paris Agreement’s 1.5-degree objective for global warming. In comparison to the prior year, the corporation lowered its overall energy consumption by 11% and its emissions by 17% in 2022. Syntegon wants to boost the proportion of renewable energy sources in its overall energy usage from 41% in 2019 to 55% in 2025. In 2022, renewables already made up 49% of the total. Five locations received new photovoltaic systems from the company that same year.
