Westfalia Fruit Takes Top Honors for Avocado Oils at Inaugural South African Food Awards

Westfalia Fruit, a multinational producer and exporter of avocados and fresh produce, received multiple honors at the first South African Food and Beverage Awards, underscoring the company’s expanding footprint in the value-added avocado product sector.

The group’s flavored avocado oils took home a total of four distinctions. Its Lemon Flavoured Avocado Oil and Lemon variant earned Gold Certificates, while the Garlic Flavoured and Plain Avocado Oils were each awarded Silver. The company’s range is also endorsed by the Heart Foundation of South Africa, which has cited the oils’ health benefits.

The South African Food and Beverage Awards were launched in 2025 in partnership with the Aurora International Taste Challenge. The program aims to recognize standout products in the country’s growing food and beverage industry. Certificates—ranging from Silver to Double Gold—are awarded to products judged for both flavor and overall quality.

Judges cited not only the quality of ingredients used in Westfalia’s oils but also the company’s attention to health, sustainability, and production standards. The recognition comes as Westfalia continues to diversify its product offerings beyond fresh produce, with a portfolio that now includes low-preservative guacamole, frozen avocado, and dried fruit.
