Trends at IFFA 2016

This year’s edition of specialized trade fair for the meat industry IFFA 2016 takes place in Frankfurt, May 7-12. Among the key trends identified for this edition by companies from the sector, some of the most important ones are: clean label, meaning additive-free products; meat substitute products, such as vegetarian and vegan ranges with high protein content from soy, wheat, tofu; premium products, accounting on consumers no longer purchasing the cheapest option available, but also goods for more discerning palates; salt reduction, as recommended by the World Health Organization and the German Nutrition Society, more consumers are sensitive to the salt content in the products, for which now the guidelines are set at 5 to 6 grams.
