A plant-based smash burger was introduced by the multi-award-winning Oumph. The concept-driven product succeeds in capturing all the traditional components of a smash burger, including juiciness, flavor, and crispness.
The new burger will be introduced into foodservice and supermarket retail in the Nordics and all other markets where Oumph! is already available, with launches in the Netherlands and the UK coming soon, according to LIVEKINDLY Collective, of which Oumph! is a part.
“The emphasis, like with all Oumph! products, is on taste and texture as well as developing a concept that encourages new individuals to try plant-based food. There are about 800 plant-based burgers available in Europe, so if you want to introduce a new burger, it needs to stand apart. All the right boxes are checked by our new Oumph! Smash Burger. The burger includes the traditional qualities of a smash burger, including juiciness, flavor, and the uneven, crispy edges, and is created from pea and fava beans,” according to Anders Linden, co-founder, corporate chef, and head of innovation at Oumph!.
The Oumph! Smash Burger will be sold in supermarkets in addition to foodservice establishments initially.
With more to come, Brödernas is the first restaurant chain in Sweden to introduce the Oumph! Smash Burger at their 80+ locations. According to Carl Montelius, head of foodservice at Oumph!, “We are incredibly excited to launch our new Smash Burger at Brödernas, as our first food service location for this already successful product! It is the ideal setting for the consumer to try it because it pairs well with high-quality ingredients and at a restaurant with a really welcoming atmosphere.”
Swedish plant-based brand Oumph! has won awards. Since its debut in 2015, Oumph! has gained popularity among a diverse group of consumers, including families, millennials, foodies, chefs, meat-reducers, and flexitarians who enjoy fast food.
