Beginning in 2024, the Shanghai World of Packaging (swop) will be held annually. The trade show is building international ties within the processing and packaging sector while paying even closer attention to the needs of the local market under the auspices of the interpack alliance.
Before SWOP 2023 ever got underway, it was obviously obvious that the trade show would return in 2024. The increasing demand from exhibitors and tourists is one factor. A part of this is also played by the shorter innovation cycles brought on by the packaging industry transformation, which particularly affect sustainability and digitalization. The yearly cycle provides a venue for the timely presentation of advancements and innovations in the processing and packaging sector. The rhythm up till now was two years.
Following the Covid-19 crisis’ resolution, a continuous economic rebound may be seen. At the same time, the trade show sector is growing again. For instance, there has already been a sizable reaction from exhibitors for swop 2023, which is being co-hosted by Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai and Adsale Exhibition Services.
The packaging sector has emerged as a key driver of company growth in China as a result of the rise of the global consumer market and the advancement of technical advancements. The industry keeps specializing while emphasizing innovation, environmental protection, and sustainability. Trade fairs are the perfect venue for presenting novelties, fostering technological dialogue, and establishing new commercial relationships within the sector, all of which have grown in importance.
A wide range of topics are covered by swop, including artificial intelligence, sustainable packaging, smart factories, printing and labeling, processing and packaging components, manufacturing of packaging containers, e-commerce and shipping packages, packaging materials and design, and customized packaging. Users receive cutting-edge omnichannel packaging options as well as sage advice on processing and production. An broad supporting program and specialty areas complement this.
“With this step, we recognise the needs of the very dynamic Chinese packaging market”, according to Thomas Dohse, director of the interpack alliance. “A shorter interval between events has been met here with great interest. Regular participation allows companies to increase their visibility, improve customer retention and strengthen their position in the market.”
The upcoming swop will be held in Shanghai on November 22-24, 2023. Around 700 exhibitors and 25,000 visiting professionals from China and abroad are expected. In 2024, swop is scheduled for November 18 – 20, and will also take place in Shanghai.
