The Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA) has appointed new leaders across its key boards, marking a strategic shift as the organization enters 2025.
The appointments span the organization’s warehouse, transportation, and foundation divisions, reflecting the growing complexity of the global cold chain industry.
Tim Ludwig, President of Bradner Cold Storage in British Columbia, Canada, will chair the GCCA Warehouse Board. Francisco Moura of IceStar in Chile will serve as Vice Chair, with Larry Alderfer of United States Cold Storage and Jason Dreisbach of Dreisbach Enterprises rounding out the senior leadership team. The board has also welcomed several new directors-at-large, including executives from InterChange Group Inc., CORE X Complete, and Envision Cold, who will serve three-year terms beginning January 2025.
“The cold chain is a reliable, often hidden, part of the global food and perishable goods supply chain, but we have found ourselves increasingly in the spotlight in recent years,” Ludwig said. “A series of unpredictable events across the world have challenged the supply chain, and we enter 2025 expecting more dynamic change.”
On the transportation side, Richard Patenaude of Congebec Transport has been named Chair of the Transportation Board, with Robert Fay of Florida Freezer as Vice Chair. The board added new directors from industry leaders including Americold and Digistics, bringing diverse geographical perspectives to the organization’s transportation initiatives.
The GCCA Foundation, which Patenaude describes as “the jewel in the crown of our Alliance,” will be led by Ken Whah, President of Core X Partners. Adam Forste of Lineage Logistics will serve as Vice Chair, with Graham Harvey of NewCold as Treasurer. The Foundation, celebrating the 60th anniversary of its Cold Chain Institute, has appointed seven new governors-at-large from companies across the cold chain sector.
Sam Tippmann, President of TI Cold, continues his leadership of the Controlled Environment Building Association (CEBA) Board for the second year of his two-year term. Under his guidance, CEBA has achieved record membership and conference attendance. The board has expanded with ten new members from companies including Stellar, Ware Malcomb, and Americold.
These appointments come at a critical time for the cold chain industry, which faces challenges ranging from global trade uncertainties to sustainability requirements. The new leadership structure positions the GCCA to address these challenges while advancing its mission of strengthening the cold chain worldwide.
