Häagen-Dazs Debuts Limited-Time Dark Cherry Truffle Collection

Häagen-Dazs Shops is betting on the growing appeal of dark cherry, introducing a limited-time collection that pairs the fruit’s tart profile with rich chocolate in an effort to elevate its in-store dessert experience.

The Dark Cherry Truffle Collection, available exclusively at Häagen-Dazs Shops across the US from April 1 through June 30, comes as dark cherry gains broader recognition, having been named the 2026 flavor of the year. The launch reflects a wider industry trend toward more indulgent, flavor-forward offerings designed to encourage consumers to linger and treat dessert as an experience rather than an afterthought.

The collection centers on a combination of bright, tangy cherry notes and deeper chocolate elements, a pairing the company positions as both indulgent and balanced. It is also an attempt to differentiate in a competitive premium dessert market, where brands are increasingly leaning on seasonal and limited-edition products to drive foot traffic.

Among the offerings is the Dark Cherry Truffle Ice Cream, which blends cherry vanilla ice cream with tart cherry ribbons and soft cocoa truffles. The product is designed to deliver a layered flavor profile that moves between sweetness and intensity.

The lineup also includes the Dark Cherry Truffle Dazzler Sundae, built with layers of ice cream, cherry preserves and hot fudge, finished with whipped cream and a premium cocktail cherry. A similar approach carries through to the Dark Cherry Truffle Shake, which combines the ice cream with milk and the same cherry garnish.

That garnish is sourced from Traverse City Whiskey Co., a family-owned distillery based in Michigan known for producing candied Balaton cherries. The partnership adds a regional element to the offering, drawing on Traverse City’s reputation as a major cherry-producing area and reinforcing the product’s emphasis on authenticity and ingredient quality.

The limited-time nature of the collection underscores a broader strategy in the premium ice cream segment, where brands are using seasonal flavors and collaborations to create urgency and maintain consumer interest. For Häagen-Dazs, the focus on dark cherry signals a bet that consumers are increasingly drawn to more complex flavor combinations that balance indulgence with perceived sophistication.
