Aldi Launches Pizza Alternatives

Aldi

Aldi UK has unveiled the new Stonebaked Pinsa’s line of frozen pizza alternatives, which is part of the supermarket chain’s seasonal frozen food range. The products are already available for purchase in store now.

Aldi explains the word Pinsa comes from the Latin word “Pinsere” meaning “stretch-spread-out”, which refers to the composition of the Pinsa base. Made using an authentic recipe, the Pinsa is said to be more digestible than a pizza because of its ultra-hydrated dough, which is 80% water compared to a pizza’s that has 50-60%. Aldi’s Pinsas are made using water directly from the Sibillini mountain region in Italy.

The supermarket is offering three options to choose from including:

  • Chicken Tikka – contains chicken breast pieces in tikka sauce with peppers and onions, topped with mozzarella.
  • Ham, Bacon & Mushroom – featuring slices of bacon, ham and seasoned mushrooms with mascarpone sauce.
  • Grilled Vegetables & Pesto – has tomatoes, red onion and grilled peppers topped with mozzarella and green pesto sauce.

All three Pinsas are available to buy for GBP1.99.
